Is there anything more thrilling than the slow, delicious buildup to a night out? Whether it’s the butterflies in your stomach, the soft glow of candlelight during a bath, or the first swipe of lipstick, there’s magic in every step of preparing for a date.

For me, this process is sacred. It’s my moment to embrace my femininity in all its glory—a ritual that empowers me to feel utterly gorgeous from head to toe. Here’s exactly how I make that happen (and yes, the excitement never fades, amirite?).

Step 1 – Waxing
Let’s talk about maintenance. I haven’t started my transition just yet (terrifying but happening soon), so laser is still on my future to-do list. Hormones aren’t part of my plan either—but more on that in a future post. For now, waxing is my go-to for keeping things smooth and silky.

I book a full session once a month, taking care of everything—except my legs and a perfectly manicured triangle down below. I’m not into bushes, but I find being completely bare a bit much. As for my legs? I shave those babies religiously. Nothing compares to the feeling of freshly shaven legs brushing against fabric—pure bliss.

Step 2 – Nails
The day before the date, it’s all about the nails. A fresh mani-pedi is non-negotiable, especially since my poor feet work overtime. I’ve usually planned my outfit, shoes, and bag in advance, so my nails tie into the whole aesthetic like the perfect finishing touch.

Step 3 – The Bath
On the afternoon of the date, I take things slow with a candlelit bath. Lavender oils scent the water, my favorite herbal tea or alcohol-free sparkling wine sits on the edge, and I sink into the warmth with a soulful playlist and a good book.

This is my moment to decompress, to let excitement simmer quietly as I relax. After about 30 minutes, I grab the razor and give my long, toned legs the love they deserve. Then, it’s out of the bath, into a fluffy robe, and onto the sofa for some more me-time with my book.

Step 4 – The Shower
Later, it’s shower time. I always use the same scented shower gel as the perfume I’ll wear that evening—it’s all about that continuity, babe.

Once I’m squeaky clean, it’s onto full-body lotion to lock in that softness. Then, a face mask for 20 minutes because glowing skin? Yes, please.

Step 5 – Makeup
Now, this is where the real magic happens. For a girl like me who hasn’t had surgeries or interventions yet, makeup is my superpower. It’s also a test of patience.

I spend 90 minutes in front of the mirror armed with brushes, tints, and liners, swearing at my shaky hands (why do they shake more before a date?!). But by the end, I usually pull off a look that’s sexy, feminine, and unapologetically me.

Step 6 – Dressing
The grand finale. My outfit and shoes are laid out on the bed first thing in the morning—teasing me with excitement every time I walk by.

I start with lingerie. It’s always coordinated—matching my shoes, nails, bag, and, often, my eyeshadow. Take notes if you ever meet me; this is a Lissy rule.

Next comes the dress. I make it a point to get dressed away from mirrors—watching the transformation too early would ruin the fun. Finally, I slide on my lace-top hold-up stockings (always a must) and slip into the heels I’ve lovingly chosen (If you want to know about my obsession with heels click HERE).

Only then do I step in front of the mirror for the big reveal. It’s a ritual that makes me feel powerful, feminine, and ready for whatever the night holds. Then it’s a cab to the station—and let the fun begin!

So, what about you? Do you have a pre-date ritual that makes you feel like your best self? Drop your secrets in the comments below—I’d love to hear them.
